PIMP MY SHOES

For the last couple of fall/winter seasons, I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect pair of decorative boots straps to add a touch of edge to my boots.  I was psyched to wear my beloved YSL boots yet another season, but I was even more excited after the lovely Yeni from Pimp Your Shoes  sent me a pair of leather decorative boot straps with studded embellishments.  Whether you’re sporting casual riding boots, flat dress boots or over the knee boots these boot straps are the  perfect accessory for an added touch of edge to any look.

Similar to my love for mixing prints, from time to time I like switch it up and mix and match textures. And so it was with this Alice & Olivia blazer which was a steal at a sample sale in December. I paired it with a knit pencil dress and added metallic gold polka dot tights to allow the eyes to dart from top to bottom. Maybe a little unconventional but it worked.

COLORED TIGHTS

One of the things I wanted to change this season, was opting for colored tights to jazz my work looks when wearing skirts or dresses. First, it’s important to have the right color shoes when wearing colored tights. I paired burgundy tights with a dark blue skirt and opted for navy blue suede pumps.  To avoid a total color blocked look, I added a leopard cardigan which is always a perfect addition to jazz an otherwise boring or simple look.

This is Part 2 of  how I paired this perfect outfit builder, the J Crew Sequins Polka Dot Top, with leather leggings to create a texture blocking look. Sequins and leather is always a fun way to mix textures by combining something pretty against a  tough edgy palette.
