Classic Feminine

For a day in the classroom and helping to represent the library at college department meetings, I wanted to look more professional. Not that I don’t try to look professional other days, but you know what I mean. Today felt like a day for a classic pencil skirt and heels.

  • Tall boots:  Rampage via Nordstrom’s,

                            Polka dots and tweed

What for?  For work. Loved this outfit in real life — mixing up patterns and textures is something I’ve been trying to experiment with lately. However, these pics came out all wonky. My work schedule was really long today, so this was very early in the morning, which meant no natural light. Also, the camera battery died just a couple of shots in. My husband takes all the photos because (a) he’s a sweetheart and (b) he’s way better with electronics than me. The colors in the pics are off, too, because of the bad lighting.

  • Cardigan:  Nordstrom Rack
  • Polka-dot dress:  H&M, bought overseas in the UAE
  • Tweed skirt:  Maurices
  • Tights:  American Apparel (heather midnight)
  • Flats:  Macy’s
  • Necklace:  Handmade gift from my husband

SIA interpretation: Sunrise by Georgia O’Keeffe

I chose the “Sunrise” painting for its symbolism of a sunrise starting off a new year. The bright colors also called to me, and I knew that I had to start with my starburst-patterned yellow cardigan. (The sun is a star, of course! ðŸ˜‰ )My pink blouse and burgundy pencil skirt quickly followed. The finishing touch was my new red lipstick.

  • Yellow cardigan, Target, thrifted
  • Pink sleeveless blouse, Kohl’s, old
  • Burgundy pencil skirt, LOFT, old
  • Pink skinny belt, Kohl’s, old
  • Chevron burgundy tights, ModCloth
  • Bronze Mary Jane heels, Franco Sarto, thrifted

Grey + green + dark denim

I wore this outfit last week, but I couldn’t get pics because of the determinedly rainy weather (and long days at work). So I rewore the outfit last weekend to get my hair trimmed and do some errands — and take pics on a rare sunny winter day!

  • Green “Anne of Green Gables” scarf, Storiarts, gift from Sam
  • Dark denim jacket, Tommy Hilfiger via Macy’s
  • Grey knit dress, eShakti, old
  • Grey tights, ?, old
  • Grey sporty flats, DKNY via Macy’s
  • Pink lipstick, Revlon Super Lustrous in ‘Cherry Blossom’
