WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK: RED SUIT AND BRONZE PUMPS

Suit: Classiques Entier, similar red suits in Tweed
as a pantsuit, and with a cowl neckline
Shoes and Clutch: Clarks (clutch only available on the UK site)

It's been raining all weekend in London, so we had to snap pictures with an umbrella for the first time! Gives it a touch of the classic London look :-) For today's outfit, I picked my favorite suit from Nordstrom's Classiques Entier line. Unfortunately it is no longer in stock, but a red skirt suit is perfect for the holidays and winter in general. I've paired it with bronze/gold pumps from Clarks and a matching clutch - a touch of festive sparkle around the holidays is generally OK, even in very conservative offices!

WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK: CRANBERRY AND BROWN

Skirt: J. Crew, similar here | Blazer: Ann Taylor, similar here
Shoes: Corso Como, similar here | Purse: Vintage Skins, similar here

It is now COLD in London, and it appears fall is officially over. We are now heading into winter, with warm sweaters, thick tights and LOTS of black. I decided to shoot one more autumn outfit to officially say goodbye to the season, and threw together my favorite autumn combination of browns, cranberry and LOTS of texture. Goodbye fall, and now hello to winter!!

WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK: BLACK TURTLENECK AND GREY PENCIL SKIRT

Skirt: Love and Be Loved | Turtleneck: Lord & Taylor Cashmere
Belt: Style & Co. | Necklace: Nordstrom, similar here
Pumps: Stuart Weitzman 'Power', similar 'Nouveau'

The first outfit of the year should always be something chic and classic!! Here I've paired this gorgeous, custom-made grey pencil skirt with a classic black turtleneck and pumps. A wide red belt adds a pop of color, and some silver beads add a little sparkle. This year, my resolution is to be as fashionable as possible!!!

WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK: GREY PANELLED JACKET WITH BLACK AND WHITE FLORAL SKIRT

Skirt: Prabal Gurung for Target, similar black and white floral print here
Jacket: H&M, similar unique jacket here or standard grey blazer here
Cami: Ann Taylor, similar here
Pumps: Manolo Blahnik | Clutch: Kate Spade, similar color here

I fell in love with the panelling on this jacket the minute I tried it on and knew I had to take it home! It's incredibly versatile and the perfect shade of grey to for a British summer. Might not be the first color you think of for summer, but it's cold up here - it only got up to 75 degrees this week, and I only stopped wearing my winter coat to work at the beginning of June! The rest of the oufit is a mix of softer, floral-inspired pieces that still look appropriate in a city where brown is a "light, summery" color.

WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK: CRANBERRY SKIRT AND HERMES SCARF

Skirt: J. Crew, similar here | Sweater: Lord & Taylor
Scarf: Hermes
Pumps: Corso Como, similar here

It hasn't gotten very cold in London yet - we are still hovering around 50-60 degrees. But, the city gets dark now by 4:30pm, so winter has definitely arrived! Even brown seems a bit out of place in a city that gets dark so early, so I am moving my black clothing back into my closet. But, I didn't want to start wearing head-to-toe black yet, so I paired my black cardigan with my cranberry pencil skirt and added an Hermes scarf for a bit of color. Snakeskin pumps are the perfect touch to finish off the outfit!

WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK: WHITE SKIRT, GREY BLAZER AND BURGUNDY PUMPS

Skirt: Banana Republic, similar here | Jacket: Nordstrom, similar here
 Cami: Ann Taylor, similar here
Pumps: Clarks UK, similar here | Clutch: Clarks UK, similar here

This stunning doorway is a short walk from my apartment and I thought it made the perfect backdrop for this classic outfit. Here's proving that wearing white can extend far (almost three weeks!) past Labor Day!

LADIES WHO LUNCH...AT THEIR DESKS

I know the term "ladies who lunch" is sometimes used derogatorily, but I've always thought it sounded quite elegant. It brings to mind pictures of women in beautiful clothes delicately nibbling on cucumber sandwiches and lobster salad. Unfortunately, my daily lunch is much less elegant - microwaved food made over the weekend and frozen, eaten while catching up on the news at my desk. But, while I may not be able to eat like a "lady who lunches," I can certainly dress like one :-) My outfit today is based off of what I imagine those ladies would wear - a classic pencil skirt combined with a bright sweater, accessorized with a long strand of pearls, my class ring and matching pearl earrings. At least I can dress like I live a life of leisure!!

Stripes Look

 Hola Chic@s!

Ann Taylor Lace & Tweed Peplum Suit

I just got a new day job at a software company and while I get to work from home most of the time, sometimes I have to fly to Florida to our other offices for business meetings. I’m not really a suit person, but it’s important to dress professionally in the corporate world. I can usually pull this off with a ladylike work dress, pencil skirts and blazers, but this season I challenged myself to find a suit I actually like. When I saw this lace and tweed peplum suit at Ann Taylor, I was sold.
I love the peplum top – such a unique twist on the classic suit. The shape is feminine, trendy and the mixed media with lace and tweed is eye-catching and on-trend!
Black and grey tweed is such a classic colour combination  and both of these pieces can be paired effortlessly with other items in my closet to extend my work wardrobe even further.
The pants have a flattering and comfortable fit – not too tight in the thighs with a slimming tapered leg. I love the pockets too! As the weather gets cooler, I’ll throw a blazer on top or wear these pants with a long-sleeved button up blouse.
For my accessories, I wore sparkling silver and crystal jewellery and a classic black work tote. I like the elegance of silver accessories, but with black and grey, the accessory options are endless.
The black lace top of this peplum blouse is perfect for a bold statement necklace too!
On my feet, I’m wearing a sweet pair of suede cap toe pumps from the new Ann Taylor shoe collection. I never buy kitten heels, but this pair works really well with the cropped tweed pants. I can also wear these pants with higher heels or a pair of pointed toe flats.
These colour-blocked kitten heels are super comfy and they give the perfect pop of colour to my monochromatic look. I love the way cobalt blue looks with classic black and grey!
This lace and tweed peplum suit is one that any fashionista would be proud to wear to the office and beyond!

Pullman Hotel in Toulouse

Hi guys! This time I want to show you the hotel where I stayed. This is one of the amazing rooms,  do you like it? I love the electric orange armchair.... The mixture of colors is perfect.

Hola chicos!

This is a five stars hotel located in the city centre, specifically in 84, Allée Jean Jaurès, so well situated. In each room you could find minibar, nespresso coffee maker, desk, TV satellite, a lot of mirrors.... and all you need!!

The staff is very kind and helpful! They gave me fashion magazines that I used to inspire my next outfits :) I know that this type of hotels are expensive but sincerely I prefer spend my money on that because comfort is the most important thing for me.

Bymedidri LOVES Covering

Hi everyone! Today I show you a very special look, composed of the kind of clothes that make you feel you look elegant and yet super comfy and trendy. It is also an outfit full of contrasts, suitable for the night and the day, the kind of clothes that could rescue you on more than one occasion when you don´t know what to wear . I'm completely in love with this skirt, its shape, its texture, how it fits, ... the sequin jacket is a gem, providing light and a funny-chic touch, and what about this Eleven Paris T-shirt , which breaks with the lady style giving a urban touch that makes this outfit so special. In this ocassion, color is on the shoes with a neon green that stands above the rest of the range of grays and blacks.
You can get all these items, including shoes, at Covering, one of my favorite stores that I luckyly have very close to my home, in Ribeira. Upon entering you realize that both the clothing and accessories are special, different, dare I say exclusive, which have been chosen with great taste by its owner, Marisol, who travels often to the capitals of fashion to bring us the most trendy items and brands that we may think we can only find in big cities or malls. She is also an amazing stylist and fashion advisor, who makes you feel very much at home and who knows perfectly which kind of clothes can flatter you and combine with your style.

Making Distressed Denim Feminine

Denim has a long history in American, from old western movies to pop stars wearing distressed threads. It’s pretty ironic to think that Leob Strauss, who later changed to Levi, an immigrant from Germany, created the first blue jean. The official birthday of “blue jeans” was May 20, 1873, when Strauss received the U.S.Patent No.139,121. Interesting fashion history don’t you think?
I’ll go more in depth on the history, styles and what to buy in a later post. I bought and received lots of denim for my birthday and this distressed pair I’m wearing was one of them. To keep the look feminine and modern – I paired the jeans with a gorgeous lace top and minimal strappy sandals. You might recognized these sandals from my minimal shopping post, my lovely boyfriend gave them to me for my birthday.
The feminine details in this outfit, such as the top and gold accessories, really downplay the ruggedness of the denim. Depending on the overall look you’re going for it’s the items you pair with your jeans with that make all the difference. When styling distressed denim – balance is key; put thought in your pairing or you might end up look sloppy instead of cool and laid-back-chic.

Summer Dress

Oasap.com dress collection, always sweeps me off my feet. With their perfect fit, quality, colors and variety, I always wait for their new arrivals. Affordability of their collections don't let me stop myself from indulging in some serious online shopping. I picked up 2 dresses, tights and some statement accessories this time. You can very well imagine the popularity of this brand from the fact that the new arrivals fly off the shelf in no time. One has to be quite regular to grab their favorite items before they are sold out. Their new collection is up and I am eyeing following dresses from their latest collection, especially when Oasap.com is offering discounts and free shipping too :) With sun shining bright already...My list of summer Must-have dresses is ready and I am all set to buy more of summer dresses.

Polka Dots

Today I decided to play with patterns and textures.  I've been pretty much obsessed with tights this season so I matched my floral patterned ones with black shorts and a polka dot bow top.  I also have bows on my heels to tie everything together :).  It was warm enough that a cardigan wasn't even necessary!

A Pinstripe Button Down

As you may have noticed, I’m starting a couple of series. One is winter essentials and the other is stylish essentials. These are posts in which I focus the attention on one item and share with you tips, outfit inspiration and what to look for when purchasing this essential. The list is going to be built throughout each season and some throughout the year.
For example, in winter essentials I have already posted about a cape, suede boots, an oversized scarf and a wool hat. I’m going to continue to add to these throughout the winter. Once spring beings I will begin on the spring essentials and so on.
The stylish at work essentials is a list I will be building throughout the entire year, this also goes for the stylish essentials. These are not focused on a specific season but rather on a stylish life. So for the first entry we will be discussing the pinstripe button down.
This is a very menswear inspired button down. There is nothing feminine about it, from super thin stripes to the stiff collar this shirt demands that it be taken seriously. I originally bought this shirt because I loved the oversized cuffs. It has four buttons instead or two! (I bought this same shirt in white.) The other detail that I like are the very thin stripes. You can barely see them in these photos but believe me they are there.
When looking to purchase a pinstripe shirt keep these next points in mind. First, decide how much you want your stripes to pop. Do you like a very contrasting style or more subtle, like this outfit? Next, choose the fabric. Can you work in a stiff shirt for 8 hours + or are you more comfortable in a silk blouse?
Also, do you like a masculine style or do you want it to have feminine details. For example, maybe you don’t want to buttons to go all the way to the top. Maybe you even want a pocket. Last and most importantly, buy the right size.A perfectly fitting shirt should not be pulling at the buttons. It should lie flat.
Note, these type of shirts are typically meant to be tucked in. Unless you are wearing them with a pair of boyfriend jeans over the weekend make sure the shirt is also comfortable tucked in.
